Pharmacy

All prescription activation requests made after 4 p.m. will be ready the next duty day after 11 a.m. Exceptions to this policy will be made for urgent medications such as antibiotics.

Beginning April 1, 2025,the Seymour Johnson AFB pharmacy will no longer offer phone call activation service for new prescriptions. All new prescriptions must be activated through the virtual activation process on the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal or by using Q-Anywhere.

Follow these steps for Q-Anywhere activation:
Step 1: Scan the QR code with your smartphone camera or text “Get in line” to 833-338-1731.
Step 2: Select the secure weblink to start your medication request.
Step 3: Select your pharmacy.
Step 4: Enter the PATIENT’S DOD ID number and any additional patients if needed.
Step 5: Select the pickup location.
Step 6: Tell us what you need.
Step 7: Keep the webpage open for notifications and wait for a “ready” text to pick up medications at your requested location as directed.
Step 8: For the main pharmacy pickup location, “ready” medications will be available on the next duty day at 11 a.m. For the ScriptCenter, “ready” medications will be available on the next duty day at 11 a.m. Patients can activate at the pharmacy by pulling tickets at the pharmacy kiosk.

Refills to be picked up at the pharmacy will be ready on the third duty day.

We’re pleased to provide pharmacy services to all our patients. You can fill prescriptions at no cost from the Seymour Johnson AFB Pharmacy. If you have a prescription from a TRICARE network or non-network provider, you may fill it here, as long as it’s available on our Basic Core Formulary.

Please use the TRICARE Formulary Search tool to see if your drug is available. We provide up to a 90-day supply for most drugs.
The pharmacy provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services to all eligible beneficiaries. A pharmacist is available to provide medication counseling upon request.

Due to local policy, the pharmacy cannot accept phoned-in or faxed prescriptions. We do accept electronic prescriptions, including those for controlled drugs.

Our Military Pharmacy Services 

Maintenance Drugs 

Maintenance drugs are those you take regularly for a chronic condition (i.e., drugs to control blood pressure or cholesterol). All beneficiaries must refill certain maintenance drugs through home delivery or at military pharmacies. This does not apply to active duty service members.

Transferring Prescriptions 

If you have prescriptions at a TRICARE network pharmacy, you may transfer your prescriptions to our military pharmacy. Call the Express Scripts Member Choice Center at 877-882-3335 to learn more about prescription transfers.

To transfer a prescription to Seymour Johnson AFB, simply bring your bottles to the pharmacy before running out of medication. We’ll contact your previous pharmacy to transfer your prescription. Please note, it may take up to 72 hours or longer to transfer prescriptions from overseas pharmacies.

Basic Core Formulary 

All military pharmacies have a Basic Core Formulary. The Basic Core Formulary is a list of drugs that are available at all full-service military pharmacies. Please use the TRICARE Formulary Search tool to see if your drug is available.

Use the TRICARE Formulary Search tool to see if your drug is available at your military pharmacy. A search can tell you:

  • Formulary status (generic drug, brand-name drug, non-formulary drug, non-covered drug)
  • Alternative drugs

To start your search, you’ll need to enter the brand or generic name of the drug.

Filling Prescriptions 

New Prescriptions 

All new or renewed prescriptions must be activated by the patient before they will be filled by the pharmacy.

Activate your prescriptions include by using the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal.

Patients can also activate through Q-Anywhere.

Patients can activate at the pharmacy by pulling tickets at the pharmacy kiosk.

All tickets created after 4 p.m. will be ready the next duty day after 11 a.m. Exceptions will be made for urgent medications, such as antibiotics.
 
Hard-copy prescriptions need to be brought to the pharmacy or dropped off in the red Pharmacy Drop Box located outside the clinic entrance. Hard-copy prescriptions will be available for pick up the next duty day after 11 a.m.

Refills 

It’s easy to refill your prescription at the Seymour Johnson AFB Pharmacy. 

Register and order your refills on the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal or call 984-355-8583 to request your refill.

Select Option 1 to pick up your prescription at the ScriptCenter; refills will be processed and available the following duty day. Please be aware that refrigerated items or controlled substances cannot be picked up at the ScriptCenter.

Select Option 2 to pick up your prescription at the pharmacy. Refills will be ready on the third duty day.

Prescription Pickup 

You can either wait for your prescription to be filled or drop it off and pick it up later.

The Seymour Johnson AFB Pharmacy offers two prescription pickup locations. In addition, ScriptCenter is an innovative option that provides patients with a fast, easy, and convenient way to pick up both new prescriptions and refills. The ScriptCenter is located at the base exchange mall and offers patients prescription pick-up during the base exchange mall hours.

Prescriptions can also be picked up at the pharmacy inside the Thomas Koritz Clinic.

While there are no costs for prescriptions here at Seymour Johnson AFB, there are costs for filling prescriptions via home delivery or at network pharmacies for all non-active duty beneficiaries:

Active duty service members have a $0 copayment for covered drugs at any pharmacy.

What is Electronic Prescribing? 

Electronic prescribing allows civilian providers to send prescriptions electronically to our pharmacy.
 
Did you know you can get your prescriptions from civilian providers filled at our pharmacy, even if you are not enrolled to this facility? You can fill prescription from providers outside of this facility, for free, if the prescription is available on the Basic Core Formulary.

Why Should I e-Prescribe?

It’s Safe and Efficient
e-Prescribing is the best way to keep your personal health information safe. You can reduce the chance of transcription errors, losing your prescription, and need for provider clarification when you choose e-Prescriptions. e-Prescriptions are transmitted securely from your provider’s office to the pharmacy.
 
Convenient and Cost Saving
You can save time and wait times when you use e-Prescriptions. You can also take advantage of no copayment when you pick up your prescription from your military pharmacy.

Now you can reduce your wait time at the pharmacy for new or renewal prescriptions. Seymour Johnson now offers remote pharmacy check-in using Q-Anywhere. With remote pharmacy check-in, you can activate your prescription with a simple text message from your phone

To Use Remote Pharmacy Check-In with Q-Anywhere:

Using your cellphone, text “Get in line” to 833-338-1731.
Enter your DOD ID number to check in remotely and automatically activate all your new prescriptions sent in by the provider within the past two weeks. 
The pharmacy will process all your NEW/RENEWAL prescriptions (NO REFILLS) and will send you a text when they are ready for pickup. For accuracy, after you receive your Q number, message back with the medications you need filled.

Drug Take Back

Seymour Johnson offers a secure bin where you can drop your unwanted drugs onsite. The blue MedSafe bin is located inside the pharmacy lobby for non-sharp items. Sharps/needles can be disposed in the red sharps bin also located inside the pharmacy lobby.
