Health Services

Pharmacy

We’re pleased to provide pharmacy services to all our patients. You can fill prescriptions at no cost from the Seymour Johnson Pharmacy. If you have a prescription from a TRICARE network or non-network provider, you may fill it here, as long as it’s available on our Basic Core Formulary.

Please use the TRICARE Formulary Search tool to see if your drug is available, or call us at 919-722-1802, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Wednesday, 9:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., to see if your drug is available. We provide up to a 90-day supply for most drugs.

The pharmacy provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services to all eligible beneficiaries. A pharmacist is available to provide medication counseling upon request.

Due to local policy, the pharmacy can’t accept phoned-in or faxed prescriptions. We do accept electronic prescriptions, including those for controlled drugs.

Our Military Pharmacy Services

Maintenance Drugs

Maintenance drugs are those you take regularly for a chronic condition (i.e., drugs to control blood pressure or cholesterol). All beneficiaries must refill certain maintenance drugs through home delivery or at military pharmacies. This does not apply to active duty service members.

Transferring Prescriptions

If you have prescriptions at a TRICARE network pharmacy, you may transfer your prescriptions to our military pharmacy. Call the Express Scripts Member Choice center at 877-882-3335 to learn more about prescription transfers.

To transfer a prescription to Seymour Johnson, simply bring your bottles to the pharmacy before running out of medication. We’ll contact your previous pharmacy to transfer the prescription. Please note, it may take 72 hours or longer to transfer prescriptions from overseas pharmacies.

Basic Core Formulary

All military pharmacies have a Basic Core Formulary. The Basic Core Formulary is a list of drugs that are available at all full-service military pharmacies. Please use the TRICARE Formulary Search tool to see if your drug is available.

Basic Core Formulary Search Tool

Use the TRICARE Formulary Search Tool to see if your drug is available at your military pharmacy. A search can tell you:

  • Formulary status (generic drug, brand-name drug, non-formulary drug, non-covered drug)

  • Alternative drugs

To start your search, you’ll need to enter the brand or generic name of the drug.

Filling Prescriptions

New Prescriptions

All new or renewed prescriptions must be activated by the patient before they will be filled by the pharmacy.

For electronic prescription processing, the pharmacy now offers a virtual activation method called Q-Anywhere, which allows you to skip the line at the pharmacy. Simply text “Get in line” to 833-338-1731 and follow the prompts. You will receive text message updates on your prescription status and the system will let you know when it is ready for pickup. We understand your time is valuable and Q-Anywhere allows you to spend your time doing other things instead of waiting in the pharmacy lobby. Once you receive your Q number, message back with the medications you need filled to speed up your experience.

Other ways to activate your prescriptions include pulling a ticket at the pharmacy kiosk or calling the phone line to speak with a pharmacy team member.

Hard copy prescriptions must be brought to the pharmacy or dropped off in the red pharmacy drop box located outside the clinic entrance. Hardcopy prescriptions will be available for pick up the next duty day.

Refills

It’s easy to refill your prescription at the Seymour Johnson Pharmacy.

If you’re a registered user on the MHS GENESIS Patient Portal, you may be able to order refills online. If not, call our pharmacy at 984-355-8583 to complete your refill.

Select #1 to pick-up at the ScriptCenter; refills will be processed and available the next duty day. Please note that no refrigerated items or controlled substances can be picked up at the ScriptCenter.

Select #2 to pick up at the pharmacy. Refills to be picked up at the pharmacy will be available in two duty days.

Prescription Pickup

You can wait for your prescription to be filled or drop off and pick it up later.

The Seymour Johnson Pharmacy offers two prescription pickup locations.

ScriptCenter is another step on the path of innovation and provides patients with a fast, easy, and convenient way to pick up both new and prescription refills. The ScriptCenter is located at the base exchange mall, allowing patients extended hours for prescription pickup.

Prescriptions may also be picked up at the pharmacy located inside the Thomas Koritz Clinic.

Other Pharmacy Options

As a TRICARE beneficiary, you have other pharmacy options:

  • You can use TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery to have prescriptions sent to your home. This is the least expensive way to fill prescriptions after filling it here.

Prescription Costs

While there are no costs for prescriptions here at Seymour Johnson AFB, there are costs for filling prescriptions via home delivery or at network pharmacies for all non-active duty beneficiaries:

Active duty service members have a $0 copayment for covered drugs at any pharmacy.

TRICARE Formulary

The TRICARE Formulary is a list of generic and brand-name prescription drugs covered by TRICARE. You can search the TRICARE Formulary to:

  • See how much it costs and where you can get it filled

  • Look up the medical necessity criteria

  • Get the prior authorization and medical necessity forms for your prescription

e-Prescribing

What is Electronic Prescribing?

Electronic prescribing allows civilian providers to send prescriptions electronically to our pharmacy.

Did you know you can get your prescriptions from civilian providers filled at our pharmacy, even if you aren’t enrolled at this facility? You can fill prescription from providers outside of this facility, for free, if the prescription is available on the Basic Core Formulary.

Why should I e-Prescribe?

It’s Safe and Efficient
e-Prescribing is the best way to keep your personal health information safe. You can reduce the chance of transcription errors, losing your prescription, and need for provider clarification when you choose e-Prescriptions. e-Prescriptions are transmitted securely from your provider’s office to the pharmacy.

Convenient and Cost Saving
You can save time and wait times when you use e-Prescriptions. You can also take advantage of no copayment when you pick up your prescription from your military pharmacy.

How can I choose e-Prescribing?

It’s easy. Start by giving your provider the following pharmacy information:

Name: DOD Seymour Johnson EPHCY
NPI: 1811305477
Zip Code: 27531

Q-Anywhere

NEW! Remote Pharmacy Check-In Using Q-Anywhere

Now you can reduce your wait time at the pharmacy for new or renewal prescriptions. Seymour Johnson now offers remote pharmacy check-in using Q-Anywhere. With remote pharmacy check-in, you can activate your prescription with a simple text message from your phone

To use Remote Pharmacy Check-In with Q-Anywhere:

Using your cellphone, text “Get in line” to 833-338-1731.
Enter your DOD ID number to check in remotely and automatically activate all your new prescriptions sent in by the provider within the past 2 weeks.
The pharmacy will process all your NEW/RENEWAL prescriptions (NO REFILLS) and will send you a text when they are ready for pickup. For accuracy, after you receive your Q number, message back with the medications you need filled.

Drug Safety

Prescription Drugs

Do you have unwanted, unused, or expired prescription drugs at home? It’s important to know how to safely dispose of them. Practicing good drug disposal habits protects you, your family, and your community.

Follow the proper procedures to prevent accidental prescription misuse and abuse, while also reducing chemicals that go into our water systems and environment. Did you know Seymour Johnson AFB makes it easy to dispose of your unwanted, unused, and/or expired prescription drugs with our Drug Take Back program?

Drug Take Back

Seymour Johnson offers a secure bin where you can drop your unwanted drugs onsite. The blue MedSafe bin is located inside the pharmacy lobby for non-sharp items. Sharps/needles can be disposed in the red sharps bin also located inside the pharmacy lobby.

We strive to make it easy for you and your family to handle prescriptions properly.
